Pilot Custom 743 black

The Custom 743 is Pilot's most popular fountain pen due to its wide range of nib widths. With a total of 14 different versions, it offers writing pleasure for everyone: from the finest to the widest line widths, including some particularly smooth-writing soft nibs and some very special nibs. All nibs are 14-karat gold.

The fountain pen is filled either with a converter (con-70N) or with the Pilot ink cartridges.

Standard springs

• EF - Extra Fine: relatively stiff, extremely fine lines. Recommended writing angle is vertical.
• F - Fine: relatively stiff, fine lines. Recommended writing angle is almost vertical.
• FM - Medium Fine: relatively stiff for medium-fine strokes. Recommended writing angle is almost vertical.
• M - Medium: relatively stiff, medium line width. Recommended writing angle is slightly more upright.
• B - Wide: Recommended writing angle is rather flat.
• BB - Double wide: Recommended writing angle is rather flat
  

Soft springs

• SF - Soft Fine: Fine strokes with a slight line variation when the pressure on the nib is increased slightly. Recommended writing angle is flatter.
• SFM - Soft Medium Fine: Medium-fine strokes with a slight line variation when the pressure on the nib is increased. Recommended writing angle is flatter.
• SM - Soft Medium: Medium-width strokes with a little line variation when the pressure on the nib is increased. Recommended writing angle is steeper.

Special springs

• PO - Posting: A very fine nib with a slightly angled nib. It delivers an extremely fine, rather dry stroke. This nib was developed for accountants, but is also very suitable for drawing. The recommended writing angle is rather flat.
• FA - Falcon: Very soft nib, but not yet suitable for use as a flex nib. It provides significant line variation. The recommended writing position is slightly flatter.
• WA - Waverly: a very soft, medium-width nib. Its distinctive feature is the slight upward curve of the nib. This makes it easy to use, regardless of the writing angle.
• SU - Stub: a calligraphy pen with wider vertical strokes than horizontal ones. The recommended writing angle is steeper, almost vertical.
• C - Coarse: an extra-wide nib, wider than the BB nib. The recommended writing angle is more upright to vertical.
