Warum bieten wir keine Tintenproben an?

Why don't we offer ink samples?

Posted by Anja Gebler on

We're often asked why we don't offer ink samples. After all, choosing from such a vast array of different inks wouldn't be easy. It's true!

But there are two main reasons why we're a bit reluctant to offer ink samples. The first is a lack of space. We currently have over 2,200 different ink bottle offerings. Yes, some manufacturers offer their inks in different sizes. But we certainly have 1,500 to 1,700 different inks in our range. If we had to store ink samples of all these inks, our warehouse would be bursting at the seams!
But the second point is the most important for us: filling ink samples generates an enormous amount of plastic waste ! We need plastic tubes for filling, and these are rarely recycled. Few of you participate in ink swaps, clean them, and refill them. And pipettes are needed for filling. To keep the inks absolutely clean, we used disposable pipettes in the past. We used one disposable pipette for each color for each ink sample. These are very difficult to clean, so we ended up throwing away 50% of these disposable pipettes after just one use.
But there are also some suppliers who offer small glasses:

  • Herbin with its 10 ml jars
  • Diamine with its 30 ml jars
  • Colorverse with its 5 ml mini jars
  • Ferris Wheel Press has the Ink Charger Sets with 3 small mini glasses each
  • Octopus has also rediscovered the small jars and offers its inks in sample sets.

Therefore, we hope that this selection will pique your curiosity to try out inks...
